I really liked the shape and colors of this leaf but it was laying on an asphalt walkway so I didn’t much like the background. I started by adding a texture, which helped, but it still wasn’t really integrated. So I thought I would try it in Topaz Simplify. This was the result using a… Continue reading Day 76 – Maple Leaf

Day 71 – Red Leaf
We’ve all heard about the harbingers of spring. Well this red leaf makes me thing of a harbinger of autumn. Post processing was as usual.
Day 70 – Vine Maple
I always seem to come back to the macro subjects even when I have been wandering in beautiful landscapes. This one had the usual treatment in Nik CEP.
Day 69 – Rogue River
On my way to Crater Lake yesterday I stopped at the Natural Bridge recreation area where I shot this picture of the Rogue River. This one was a challenge in post processing due to the differential lighting. I started by adjusting the blue luminence in Lightroom which I have learned can sometimes save a blown… Continue reading Day 69 – Rogue River
Day 68 – Leaf with Water
Here’s another one from the leaf walk in the park. Detail, saturation, warmth and a darken/lighten filter added in Nik CEP.
Day 67 – Leaf on Granite
I went for a stroll in the park yesterday and while the trees remain green there are some signs of fall in the leaves on the ground. I liked the idea of keeping the smaller leaf in the lower left as a counter point but I am afraid it leaves too much negative space around… Continue reading Day 67 – Leaf on Granite
Day 59 – Bluejay
I’ve been watching these Bluejay’s dance around in my parents yard all summer. I finally got out the big lens and started chasing them around yesterday. I think the score was Bluejay’s 10 and Jeanne 1 but I finally got one to hold still long enough to get a pictures. My research indicates that this… Continue reading Day 59 – Bluejay
Day 55 – Oak Leaves
Here’s another one for the leaf collection. These oak leaves were intertwined with a Japanese maple. In post I used the flat detail extractor, brilliance/warmth, and darken/lighten center. I finished it off with a smart sharpen filter in Photoshop.
Day 45 – Ducks
I visited North Mountain Park in Ashland for the first time yesterday. What a great place for nature photographers. From the butterfly garden to the wetlands ponds to beautiful Bear Creek there is a lot of variety and a lot of wildlife habitat. Looking forward to going back with the “big girl” camera. I did… Continue reading Day 45 – Ducks
Day 40 – Maple Leaf
I wandered around the yard looking for something to shoot yesterday but I feel like I have exhausted the good subjects. I did like the detail on this maple leaf, the back lighting, and the diagonal composition. but I still don’t think it is going to win any prizes. Such is the nature of a… Continue reading Day 40 – Maple Leaf
