Day 97 – Yellow Flower Detail

YellowFlowerDetail

I started going through the archives looking for something I could use today but either I just wasn’t feeling it or I’ve already used all the good ones. So, I went after my bouquet again with a super macro lens. I think there should be more depth of field in the front. But, it is what it is and I need to move on to other things. I did a high pass filter and added a lightroom preset which helped tone down the saturation. Then added a texture for a little more interest at the edges and masked it out in the center.

Day 96 – Bouquet Flower

BoquetFlower

Well, I guess this is some kind of daisy but I just bought the bouquet at Fred Meyer this morning because I thought it was pretty and I needed something to photograph for today. Yes, I am kind of going through the motions at this point but at least I have gotten to this point without quitting. I just brought the vase with the bouquet upstairs to the tiny studio and picked up the M3 which had the Sol 45 Lensbaby attached and started shooting. Tweaked the exposure, added a high pass filter for sharpening and that’s it.

Day 95 – Morning Glory

MorningGlory

Monday’s I teach my OLLI class and by the end of it I am totally exhausted. About three times today I thought “Oh, yeah, I need to do a flower.” But it wasn’t until I was relaxing with a glass of wine and Dancing with the Stars that I realized that I never did it. So combing through the archives again. I found this Morning Glory from North Mountain Park. I intentionally shot it with the sunflowers in the background to add that pop of yellow color. I wish the black fence wasn’t there but I guess it is to keep the deer out. And today was new texture day in the texture club so I had to try one of the new ones here.

Day 93 – Sunflower

Sunflower2

Another one of those days where flowers almost fell off the table. So I cruised through some past files and found this one from my last trip to the rose garden. An almost perfect sunflower. I was still test driving the Sol45 at the time and I’d say it performed very well. All I did with this one was add a high pass filter and spot heal a couple of minor flaws on the flower.

Day 92 – Bee on Black Eyed Susan

The pickings are getting mighty thin, flowerwise, anyway. I’m glad to see that the pollinators are still finding plenty of pollen. This was shot at North Mountain Park with the 180 mm macro lens on the Canon 7D MarkII. I cropped this one from horizontal to vertical, added a high pass filter and a texture and tweaked the exposure a little.

Day 91 – Echinacea

Echinacea

Today is my Mom’s 86th birthday. She doesn’t really need any more things and she doesn’t get out much and she has been wanting to check out the new Indian Casino in Yreka. So, I thought the nicest thing I could do for her today was take her on a little outing. I came back with $100 more in my pocket than I started with and she had a good time even though she didn’t win much. But, long story short, there wasn’t much time for flower photography so I went back to what I shot yesterday with the Velvet 85. I really just liked the colors on this one. I brightened it up a bit and then the texture I chose brought it along a little further. High pass filter and a little touch up with the spot healing brush.

Day 89 – Bee on Sunflower

I thought I would try something a little different. This image is from the files, taken back in August when I was experimenting with the 7D with a telephoto lens and extension tube at the rose garden. The original was close to monochome but more yellow. I decided to give it a black and white treatment with a sepia tone. I wasn’t completely happy with that so I lowered the opacity and let just a little of the color bleed through from the original. Now I’m happy. Hope you like it.
