I’ve been neglecting my blogging duties and I was a little late for the red poppies at North Mountain Park. This one was not bad but the background was boring so I added a texture for some color and visual interest.

I’ve been neglecting my blogging duties and I was a little late for the red poppies at North Mountain Park. This one was not bad but the background was boring so I added a texture for some color and visual interest.

I always enjoy looking of intimate scenes at the marina. The tidiness of this tiedown rope made for a perfect graphic black and white.

It dawned on me Sunday that I had not taken many pictures during the past week and I wondered what I was going to do about image of the week. But in looking back at images from my beach walk on Friday I was happy to find this semi-decent one. The colors were very muted due to overcast skies so I decided it would look better as a black and white. I never thought I had much use for the wide angle lens babies but that sweet 35 is really growing on me.

My neighbor’s Pink Dogwood is always hard to resist. The new Lensbaby Sweet 35 with macro filters was the right tool for the job.

This was among the first images out of the new camera. I’m sold. And it was handheld! Unfortunately the hot weather wiped out these beauties a few days later.

I was busy trying to photograph my neighbor’s grape hyacinths when this bee happened along. First pollinator I have seen this year.

One of the perks of my tiny beach house is its proximity to Azalea Park in Brookings. I stopped by this week to see if the Calla Lilies were in bloom yet. Two weeks ago they were just starting to come out. There were only a few in full bloom this time but a few were all I needed. It had just started to rain and if you look closely you can see a few raindrops along the edges. There were also a lot of grape hyacinths and a few rhododendrons starting to come out. Can’t wait to what’s out next time I’m in town. I added a couple of textures to bring out a little bit of color.

The March lion is showing no signs of giving way to the lamb. My Camelia bush is in full bloom yet has been assaulted more than once by periods of snow. I do hope spring gets the upper hand in April. This was shot with my new Lensbaby Double Glass II with a macro filter attached. I was interested to see that you can almost make out the structure of the snow crystals. Next time I will add a few more macro filters and focus on the snow.

It’s been a long cold winter this year. I have seen crocuses bloom in late January but this year they have taken their sweet time. This was shot with my new Lensbaby Double Glass II lens and a texture was added to the background.

I’m starting to feel like a one trick pony here but my third mad dash to Bookings between storms to look at a potential beach house has proved to be the charm. Offer made and accepted and now one or two more trips to take care of paper work and I will at least have a different venue for viewing the sunset… and maybe some free time to photograph something else.
