Redwoods National and State Parks

Well, I’ve been neglecting my blog and my photography to some extent. I’m just kicking off a new project photographing at least once a month in Redwoods National and State Parks. I started to do this in 2020 but, well, you know what happened. So, happier times ahead and January is already accomplished. I started out on January 1 at Stout Grove which was way more popular than I would have expected for that date. The new sidebar for this blog is from that trip. Then on January 15 I visited my go to nature trail, the Simpson-Reed trail on Walker Road just off Hwy 199 in Jedidiah Smith State Park. This was my favorite shot from that trip. Still have a lot of parks and a lot of groves to see and photograph. I’m still struggling with how to manage the dog when I’m trying to concentrate on photography.  He may have to stay at the kennel sometimes so I can be free to do what I want. I may not manage a weekly blog post but at least monthly for sure the rest of this year.

After keeping and eagle eye on the weather for a month I finally got a break on the same day I didn’t have to be anywhere so that I could escape to Jedediah Smith State Park to kick off the Redwoods National and State Parks project. It was a good start but I wish I had been able to stay a little longer. Maybe next time.  I did get a few ideas on how to approach the project and look forward to the months ahead and many trips to the redwoods. And here is the art piece I made to highlight some of my favorite things from my hikes that day.
