I thought it was time to get out of the garden and since I was downtown to sign some real estate papers yesterday I started experimenting with an idea I have had in mind to shoot architectural detail in downtown Ashland.
This is the Hotel formerly known as the Mark Anthony. It’s current name is either Lithia Springs or Ashland Springs but since there is one of each in town I cannot yet keep them straight. In any case, I shot this from the top of a parking garage where I was parked and I didn’t like the perspective too much so I went into the Lens Correction filter in Photoshop to adjust the perspective and then I saw an angle tool and thought “Oh, that might be fun.” And it was. I think that putting it on an angle gives it more visual interest and all the architectural detail is still there. I also did a little levels adjustment and added a smart sharpen filter.
