Another trip to the garden to see how the sunflowers are doing. They are doing well. On this one I used the closeup filter. No saturation or warmth needed here but I did add some detail and a center light.

Day 59 – Bluejay
I’ve been watching these Bluejay’s dance around in my parents yard all summer. I finally got out the big lens and started chasing them around yesterday. I think the score was Bluejay’s 10 and Jeanne 1 but I finally got one to hold still long enough to get a pictures. My research indicates that this… Continue reading Day 59 – Bluejay
Day 58 – Strawberries
I happened into the garden the other day when my brother had gotten up from picking strawberries to move the irrigation water. I thought the bowl of freshly picked berries and the colorful knee pad made for a nice image. In post processing I went all the way with detail extraction, then added saturation and… Continue reading Day 58 – Strawberries
Day 57 – Pinwheel
My Brother has these colorful pinwheels in his garden to scare away the birds. The trick is to capture them in a way that you can detect motion but the colors aren’t all blurred together. I might not have noticed them if the wind hadn’t been messing with my flower photography. Serendipity. Post processing was… Continue reading Day 57 – Pinwheel
Day 41- Marigold
Getting out to shoot has been difficult due to a death in the family but I don’t want to abandon the project so I just keep going back through images I have shot so far to find the keepers. The marigolds in my brother’s garden are just beautiful this year and I keep going back… Continue reading Day 41- Marigold
Day 34 – Birch Leaf
The great thing about macro photography is that you can do it any time any where. My parents have so many different kinds of trees in their yard I am thinking of doing a botanical study just on leaves. This one had the standard post processing. I tried doing a spot healing brush on the… Continue reading Day 34 – Birch Leaf
Day 30 – Marigold with bee
Gotta love serendipity. I was all set up to shoot this beautiful Marigold when the bee obligingly came along and posed for me. Just a small amount of detail added in post and a little center highlight on the bee. The flower was definitely already saturated and warm enough!
Day 22 – Japanese Maple
I took a camera walk with the EOS-M through Litha Park yesterday, the first of many I hope. I was especially fascinated by the backlighting on the leaves and seedpods of the Japanese Maples in the Japanese gardens. I’m also going to have to make the trip with the “big girl” camera one of these… Continue reading Day 22 – Japanese Maple
Day 16 – Lavender in Chest
This weekend was lavender festival all over Oregon. I took my Mom out to the Applegate Valley where we took in four lavender farms before we got too tired and hungry to continue. This particular farm had an antique store as well so I managed to capture the best of both worlds. The minute I… Continue reading Day 16 – Lavender in Chest
Day 14 – Retro Lawn Chairs
I’ve been eying these chairs in my parents backyard for awhile now. Actually there was just one when I got here but apparently my brother decided to group them all together for better garden gazing. I left them just as I found them. Compositionally, If was going to arrange it I think I would pull… Continue reading Day 14 – Retro Lawn Chairs
