One of the things I have missed most about Oregon is the Volcanic peaks. Mt McLoughlin is southern Oregon’s own private “snowcap”. Of course it looks better with snow. Don’t worry, I’ll be back. Post processing was the standard treatment in Color Efex Pro; moderate detail, brilliance warmth and a lightened center.

Day 30 – Marigold with bee
Gotta love serendipity. I was all set up to shoot this beautiful Marigold when the bee obligingly came along and posed for me. Just a small amount of detail added in post and a little center highlight on the bee. The flower was definitely already saturated and warm enough!
Day 29 – Rogue River Bridge
One of the unsung wonders of the Oregon Coast is the beautiful bridges that were built in the 1930s to connect the coastal towns and complete Highway 101. This one graces the Rogue River in Gold Beach. I loved the idea of this image when I took it but the result was kind of ho… Continue reading Day 29 – Rogue River Bridge
Day 28 – Feather
The Oregon Coast is certainly a landscape photographers dream but one of my favorite things to photograph is feathers and shells on the beach. This one I processed to bring out as much color and detail as possible.
Day 27 – Crab Pots
I found these crab pots stacked at the harbor in Port Orford. All these years I have been driving by Port Orford without a thought. But a guidebook for photographers pointed me to the harbor area so I doubled back and found it to be a great place to photograph indeed. Post processing brought in… Continue reading Day 27 – Crab Pots
Day 26 – Cape Blanco Light
I finally made it to the coast! Though I have been trying to kick the vertical trend I’ve been on lately, it is hard to avoid when shooting lighthouses. I just love the simple elegant lines of the Cape Blanco Light. It sits on the westernmost point in Oregon and is one of the harder… Continue reading Day 26 – Cape Blanco Light
Day – 25 Bread
It’s Wednesday so this must be from the Tuesday grower’s market. I’m thinking my September virtual Gallery show will be on Grower’s Market. For this artisan bread shot I used the flat and detailed filter in Nik CEP and added a border. That’s all.
Day 24 – Curly Bark
As I have been walking my Mother’s dog each morning I have been fascinated by the bark on the Madrone trees along one stretch of the walk. So, I decided to bring the little camera along yesterday. What I learned was that dog walks and camera walks don’t mix. He expects me to stop and… Continue reading Day 24 – Curly Bark
Day 22 – Japanese Maple
I took a camera walk with the EOS-M through Litha Park yesterday, the first of many I hope. I was especially fascinated by the backlighting on the leaves and seedpods of the Japanese Maples in the Japanese gardens. I’m also going to have to make the trip with the “big girl” camera one of these… Continue reading Day 22 – Japanese Maple
Day 21 – Fence
I’m getting to that point in the project where I am beginning to wonder if this was such a good idea. I often feel pressured to come up with something and am frustrated because I know it is not my best work. But I guess that is part of the benefit of a 100 days… Continue reading Day 21 – Fence
