This week’s field trip was to the newly opened Santa Fe Botanical Gardens where these yellow roses with the unlikely name of “Julia Child” were the stars of the show. I shot this at f/16 to get most of the flower in focus then in post processing added a Gaussian Blur filter and masked out the center so the edges would go soft. Then in Nik Color Efex Pro I added a detail extractor to bring out the delicate lines in the flower petals and then added a yellow vignette to further hide the distractions around the edges.
